This book, Redefining Children’s Ministry in the 21st Century, is the catalyst that became the foundation for Kids in Ministry International. Written by Becky Fischer in 2001, it has almost become a classic among those who have the vision for bringing children into the supernatural presence of God. Caution! This book is not for the week at heart! Expect your sacred cows to be kicked over once and for all!

1. Evaluating the Church and Her Children – SSCM Level One

Length: 37 minutesAuthor: Becky FischerComplexity: Standard

In business one must evaluate on a continuing basis the effectiveness of what they are doing if they are going to have a viable presence in the market place, or they will go broke. They must evaluate everything from finances to customer service. If customers don’t like products or services, they will go elsewhere.

But in the church there is seldom any real evaluation going on especially in children’s and youth ministries. Our attitude too often is as long as the kids are out of our hair, we’re happy. Seldom do church leaders ever sit down and actually evaluate the spiritual effectiveness of their children’s ministries.

2. Kids as a Mission Field – SSCM Level One

Length: 38 minutesAuthor: Becky FischerComplexity: Standard

Children up to the age of 19 make up nearly one third of the world’s population, and yet the Church prefers to focus on adults for discipling, equipping, teaching, not realizing that childhood is the time God designed people to receive the Gospel. While only 6% of people accept Christ as adults, and only 4% as teenagers, as many as 32% of children receive Jesus when given the opportunity. Yet their salvation is many times belittled at worst and undervalued at best. In this teaching we share challenging statistics of why we need to concentrate on evangelizing and discipling children more aggressively as church leaders. After all, the Muslims are having great success discipling their kids.

3. The New Wine Skin of Children’s Ministry – SSCM Level One

Length: 50 minutesAuthor: Becky FischerComplexity: Standard

The Church as a whole globally has been operating under a 200 year old wine skin in ministry to children. It’s time we press in to hear what the Spirit of God is saying about a new generation. There are three critical core values every church needs to adopt to make the needed shift of capture the heart of a new generation for Christ. Learn these Core Values well, because they are the foundation for everything we teach in KIMI.

4. How to Bring Children into the Presence of God – SSCM Level 1

Length: 58 minutesAuthor: Becky FischerComplexity: Standard

This session speaks to the very heart of the core values of Kids in Ministry International and the great need and importance of creating ongoing experiences in our children’s services for kids to experience and encounter the presence of God. Nothing else matters until the child experiences for himself–God’s love, His presence, the power of prayer, hearing Him speak to their hearts in words and visions, and feel His anointing as they pray for healing and so much more.

5. Children & the Holy Spirit – SSCM Level One

Length: 60 minutesAuthor: Becky FischerComplexity: Standard

Even in our Charismatic and Pentecostal churches, it is rare to see more than about 25% of our children under the age of twelve filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues. This is primarily because adults frequently doubt a child’s ability to understand this gift or use it properly. This session completely debunks those erroneous opinions and demonstrates how powerfully children can be used by God when filled with the Holy Spirit while giving advice on how to lead children into this experience easily and effectively.

6. The Tabernacle Pattern of Children’s Ministry – SSCM Level One

Length: 34 minutesAuthor: Becky FischerComplexity: Standard

Our primary goal in every children’s service is to take boys and girls into the presence of God. We do this by using the pattern of the Old Testament Tabernacle of the Outer Court, Inner Court, and Holy of Holies. We take the children from the Outer Court, where they are physically active through games and music, to the Inner Court, where their minds are engaged through the teaching of the Word, then into the Holy of Holies, where the Holy Spirit can minister to their hearts and spirits. This unique pattern makes a powerful combination of activities that ministers to each child’s spirit, soul, and body.

7. Understanding Children & Worship (SSCM Level One)

Length: 51 minutesAuthor: Becky FischerComplexity: Hard

Intense, heartfelt worship with kids is a critical element of taking kids as deep into the presence of God as we know they can go. But there are built in problems in children’s ministries in practical areas in creating those worship experiences. It is very rare for children’s ministries to have the luxury of live worship bands due to lack of musicians, equipment, finances to buy the sound systems, or even just the space to put it all. Therefore we have had to become experts at having powerful times of worship with just CDs.

8. How to Prepare Your Lesson –SSCM Level One

Length: 58 minutesAuthor: Becky FischerComplexity: Standard

Most churches have historically only held Sunday Schools for their children. They have focused on telling Bible stories rather than teaching the meat of God’s word and creating room for the move of the Holy Spirit. Our KIMI curriculums are primarily written to be used in a children’s church setting rather than the Sunday School classroom, primarily because we feel the children’s church environment is much more conducive to a move of the Holy Spirit. We deliberately design each of our lessons to take the children into “the Holy of Holies” and encounter God’s presence.

9. Creative Teaching Ideas – SSCM Level One

Length: 60 minutesAuthor: Becky FischerComplexity: Standard

One of the greatest challenges we face as children’s ministers is taking deep and often complicated doctrinal concepts and converting them into a form that even a young child can comprehend and receive. That is the role of visual illustration, otherwise known as object lessons. Even Jesus used object lessons in his sermons to the multitudes. Creating and using visuals can be highly anointed, and have nothing to do with entertainment or using childish gimmicks.

10. Creative Use of Drama (SSCM Level One)

Length: 41 minutesAuthor: Becky FischerComplexity: Standard

Packaging the Word of God in creative and interesting ways is key to helping children embrace, enjoy, and love your Bible lessons. As a teaching tool, using creative drama skits is one of the best ways to help kids remember important principles from the Bible. Drama skits should be in every teacher’s tool belt. It livens up the classroom. It can change the atmosphere from something serious to lighthearted humor.

11. Reaching the Heart of a Child through Games – SSCM Level One

Length: 37 minutesAuthor: Becky FischerComplexity: Standard

Children just love to have fun because that’s the way God made them. The first time anyone suggested to Becky that she play games in her children’s ministry, she was highly offended. She took her Bible teaching with children very seriously. But when she learned that engaging in a few minutes of play at the beginning of a service opened up the heart of a child to be more receptive to the teaching of the Word, she began too look at it differently.

13. Kids & the Bible – SSCM Level 1

Length: 51 minutesAuthor: Becky FischerComplexity: Standard

More than ever before it is crucial that we put a new emphasis on learning the Word of God. The Psalmist said, “I will hide his Word in my heart that I might not sin against God.” This is a season in the earth where God’s word is being denigrated, belittled, and nearly forgotten. We […]

Length: 46 minutesAuthor: Becky FischerComplexity: Standard

Teacher: Becky Fischer, Founder/Director of Kids in Ministry International Taken from the book Redefining Children’s Ministry in the 21st Century Becky shares some challenging and soul-bearing looks into the two-hundred year old wine skin called Sunday School and where it has lost it’s cutting edge in capturing the hearts of a new generation. 16. Babies, Preschoolers & God – (SSCM Level One)

Length: 48 minutesAuthor: Becky FischerComplexity: Standard

This is an intriguing look at the spiritual nurturing of children from birth and even while the child is still in the womb that clearly shows the difference in the lives of children who were bathed in prayer, worship music, and prophetic declarations and their siblings who did not receive the same nurture. To add credence to the statements, scientific examples are shared about what a fetus experiences in the womb. It is a grave mistake to think that the spiritual training of our children begins when they start school, or worse yet, when they become teens. If you are planning a family, or know someone who is, this is a critical and powerful message that needs to be heard if the goal is to truly raise a spiritual warrior for God.
